The proposed 2014-hectare project will become Delfin’s flagship community in Australia and an international showpiece for sustainable urban development. Delfin Lend Lease communities in Australia have won three international FIABCI awards for being voted the world’s Best Residential Developments.
As part of the community consultation program, Delfin has begun meeting with key stakeholders including over 400 surrounding residents who attended a Community Open Day on 19 November. Delfin has also met with Logan Village Business Owners, the Logan Village and Tamborine Rural Fire Brigades, the Mount Tamborine District Citizens Association, Logan Village Riding Club, Logan Village RSL, Logan Village State School P & C, Cedar Creek State School P & C, Plunkett Road residents and the Logan Village Lions Club.
Delfin Lend Lease Queensland Regional General Manager Andrew Brimblecombe said, “We have a genuine interest in wanting to understand the needs and desires of the community and what they want from a community like Yarrabilba. There is no better way to learn this than getting out there and simply talking to people”.
“Our vision is to create a sustainable community with business and industry hubs to generate local jobs, public transport delivered from day one, broadband access to homes, and the country’s best practice large-scale water management and environmental programs,” he said.
The formal statutory consultation process commenced with advertising in the Courier Mail and local papers in late November, with the period for public comment open towards the end of January 2006.
Further open days are planned to allow for additional public input to the proposal.
The attached information boards were presented at the Community Consultation day on November 2005.
